Brian Hurwitz, Esq.

Brian Hurwitz, Esq.

Founding Attorney

Attorney Brian Hurwitz cares deeply about your right to a fair trial. He fights to ensure that his clients receive just treatment by a court system that is able to mobilize unlimited resources against the accused. He is not intimidated by the government’s efforts to convict his clients. Criminal defense became a cause for Brian when, as a young law-firm intern, he saw how innocent people were often being treated unfairly by the police and the courts. He pledged early in his career to seek change by aggressively challenging government prosecutors as he pursues favorable outcomes for his clients.

Achieving positive results for clients is a complex exercise requiring many different skills as well as insight into human nature and a thorough grounding in applicable California law. Brian possesses these skills and knowledge. He recognizes that when charged with a crime, individuals want an attorney who is compassionate, sympathetic, and a good listener.

But emotional support must be accompanied by the ability to apply comprehensive legal knowledge to obtain a positive results for each client. Since not every case will end in dismissal of all charges, the ability to know when and how to negotiate a plea deal is crucial in defending a client. Brian has established a reputation among clients, prosecutors, and judges as an honest and trustworthy gentleman. These skills and traits have made him indispensable as a voice representing his clients in court.

Brian understands that his clients live in fear of a conviction that can have a devastating effect on their lives. His years of experience have strengthened his dedication to finding creative defenses for his clients. Spending every day in Los Angeles courtrooms has provided Brian with intimate knowledge of the local criminal justice scene. By astutely observing how the district attorneys and judges think in the various courtrooms, Brian has collected valuable information that he uses in preparing each client’s defense strategy. He is also a skilled listener who can cull from his client’s arrest description many minute details that can later be used to poke holes in prosecution arguments. Cases are often won by the uncovering of the smallest detail. This is why Brian may hire an investigator to work with a client to study the crime scene or review video evidence.

No attorney is worth his salt if he cannot communicate often and openly with his clients. Good communication is second nature to Brian and it is where he excels. When you are facing restrictions on your freedom, you desperately want to understand your options. It is a skill to be able to relieve a client’s anxiety by talking forthrightly about possible consequences without sugar coating and saying what a client wants to hear. Brian explains upfront the process by which a case advances through the judicial system. Many decisions must be made as a case progresses, including whether to accept a negotiated offer from the district attorney. By phone, email, and in person, Brian is constantly in communication with his clients. Many questions will arise during a case, and you can count on Brian to be available to answer them thoroughly and patiently.

When Brian is not fighting for his clients in the courtroom, he can be found working to maintain his exemplary physique at the local Equinox gym. To preserve his bodybuilder shape requires extreme discipline in both diet and workout regimen. Brian has earned several awards in natural bodybuilding by coupling his strict diet and exercise discipline with an avid desire to win. The principles underlying Brian’s competitive bodybuilding success can be seen in his accomplishments as a defense attorney. His passion for both realms of endeavor underscore his self-discipline, focus on detail, ability to stick to a difficult task, commitment to succeed, and determination to win. Brian exudes confidence, and this confidence shifts to trust and faith in him as he works diligently to fight the charges brought against his clients.
